Hi, I’m Katie
In 2010, I started my very first trivia night at hotel bar in downtown Missoula, Montana. Since then, I’ve hosted more than 1,100 trivia nights, in dozens of locations, and have written 40,000+ trivia questions.
I write a weekly trivia game called Trivium that’s played at bars, breweries, cideries, wine bars, and community centers in sixteen states and growing.
I absolutely love researching, writing, and creating these games. I pick up on trivia everywhere and have developed a niche knack for turning interesting information into trivia questions that are answerable and that teach people things. I never in a million years would have expected this to be my thing but it suits me quite well!
If I’m not writing trivia, I might be gardening, playing golf, working at the golf course, doing yoga, bingeing my reality shows, or having a dinner party with friends. I feel very much blessed to live, laugh, and love on the east side of the most beautiful island in the world, Kauai.
I love my job.
Trivia night is good for people.
I like to say that with trivia, everybody wins. There are no downsides to trivia night!
There’s plenty of research on the health benefits of trivia night. Playing trivia engages the frontal cortex, supports cognitive and brain development, and expands our decision-making capabilities. Correctly answering trivia questions gives our brains hits of dopamine. The good, healthy kind of dopamine! Trivia night reduces stress, brings people together, and hey, makes us smarter.
I’ve experienced it myself and witnessed it for years—trivia night is an amazing place to meet people and to nuture existing bonds. I’ve seen many couples meet at trivia night and end up married!
There’s nothing I don’t appreciate about trivia night— it’s not even bad for the environment. It’s truly a win-win for everyone.
